Say 'aloha' to Coach Rolovich: Accepts Washington State job
The Nick Rolovich era of University of Hawaii Football is over.
Monday evening, the University of Hawaii's (UH) Head Coach Nick Rolovich announced that he will be leaving the school for Washington State University (WSU). After four years on the job, the 23rd head coach in program history is the new head man for WSU.
UH's Athletics Director David Matlin made the official announcement.
"Our football program is in a better place today because of Nick and we wish him all the best. Our search for our next head coach begins immediately," Matlin said in a statement.
Rolovich's Rainbow Warriors played a record 15 games in 2019, ending up with a record of 10-5 -- including a Hawaii Bowl win over BYU on Christmas Eve, beating the cougars 38-34.
At UH, his base salary is just over $400,000. With bonus money, it put him over $500,000.
Sources tell KITV4, the deal to the coach is in the ballpark of $3 million a year, for five years.
