Small business woman and long time realtor Choon James announced Monday that she is running for Honolulu Mayor.
Among her priorities -- promoting affordable housing, helping small business owners, creating an independent ethics commission, and providing at property tax cap for residents who have lived in their homes for at least 20 years.
James also says she is concerned that many young people are working up to three jobs to try to make ends meet.
"My kuleana as a mayor really is to promote the safety, the good health, and the prosperity and also the social welfare of our residents," James stated.
James also unveiled her secret weapon -- an uku comb -- to review every budget decision at the city level.
That, of course, a local spin off the saying to go through everything with a "fine-toothed comb."
