Those on welfare in Massachusetts found to be using tax-funded benefits at posh Hawaii hotels
A program used to help those on welfare has also been used for some pretty posh hotels in Hawaii.
According to the Boston Herald, EBT card holders from Massachusetts have spent their tax-funded benefits in almost every state -- including popular vacation spots like Waikiki and Kaua'i.
The Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) prohibits the use of EBT cards for vacation services, but hotels are not on the banned list.
The DTA says the card usage may have been overlooked since the card holder had moved.
