Native Hawaiian actor and activist Jason Momoa has been named GQ's Man of the Year.

The website highlighted the actor's past year in its online article.

The article covers Momoa's many recent accomplishments and activities starting with the release of the DC Films Aquaman and extending to his vocal stance against the Thirty Meter Telescope construction atop Mauna Kea.

Momoa reflected on the award on his Instagram page writing, "when i was told i was going to be one of the men of the year i was shocked and surprised but hopefully its because i’m busting my ass trying to stop single use plastics and kicking up dust trying to stop a telescope getting built on our sacred mountain in hawaii."

The Native Hawaiian actor was also named GQ Australia's 'Man of the Year.'

Momoa concludes his post by stating that he still "got a lot of work to do. we all do all my aloha.'
