REHAB Hospital of the Pacific looks to license specialized cancer physical therapists
REHAB Hospital of the Pacific is offering a three-day course in January for any interested medical professionals, or people with undergraduate medical degrees.
This course will license interested people as a "Clinical Cancer Exercise Specialist." This program was started by the University of Northern Colorado, and REHAB is the first licensed sister training site in the world.
Right now, there are only five certified cancer exercised specialists in Hawaii. They are doctors in REHAB's "iCare" program which offers specialized physical therapy to patients who have been diagnosed with cancer.
"It doesn't just change your body, it changes your whole outlook," explained Linda Honda, who was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago and is currently a REHAB iCare patient.
