Flood Advisory for the island of O'ahu
Flood Advisory for the island of Oahu until 10:00 AM. A Flood Advisory means nuisance flooding is occurring or imminent. A Flood Advisory may be upgraded to a Flash Flood Warning if flooding worsens and poses a threat to life and property.
At 658 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain near Waimanalo. Rain was falling at a rate of 2 inches per hour.
Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to:
Honolulu, Hauula, Waimanalo, Kaneohe Marine Base, Hawaii Kai, Laie, Palolo, Kahaluu, Ahuimanu, Punaluu, Salt Lake and Kailua.
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don't drown.
This advisory may need to be extended beyond 1000 AM HST if heavy rain persists.
A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect for the state of Hawaii until 6 pm HST today.
