A 30-year-man has died after being shot by Honolulu Police in Kapolei Tuesday.

The officer-involved shooting happened just before 11 p.m. at the Shell gas station off Farrington Highway and Kapouka Place.

Family has identified the victim as 30-year-old Michael Kahalehoe from Waianae. He was wanted by CrimeStoppers for violating probation, along with another man -- 24-year-old Melvin Spillner.

"He just got caught up. He made the wrong decisions," said Kahalehoe's uncle John Kaeo.

Police tell KITV4 the suspect was driving a stolen car. He was trying to harm a woman, and at some point, that's when a male police officer intervened and shot and killed the suspect. He died at the scene.

"He was putting gas and I guess he was gonna try and get away. All he did was move back, they never had to shoot him," said Kaeo. "All they had to do was block the car with their car because he never had no weapon."

It's currently still a very active scene — detectives are focusing their investigation at pump 3. There is a blue sedan that is taped off.

This is a developing story and we will bring you new details as they come in.
