To date, Hawaii has spent nearly $11 million in response to TMT demonstrations atop Mauna Kea
The state has spent nearly $11 million on it's response to demonstrations against the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) on Mauna Kea.
Hawaii County alone has spent nearly $5 million, and most of that towards overtime for law enforcement.
Nearly $2.2 million has been spent on the Hawaii National Guard, and the State Attorney General's Office has dished out nearly $1.6 million for the past four months.
Demonstrators have blocked most of the access to the summit hoping to stop construction of TMT.
