State spends nearly $11 million in response to demonstrations against TMT
The state has spent nearly $11-million for it's response to demonstrations against the Thirty Meter Telescope on Mauna Kea.
Hawaii County alone has spent nearly $5-million and most of that towards overtime for law enforcement.
Nearly $2.2-million's been spent on the Hawaii National Guard and the State Attorney General's Office has dished out nearly $1.6-million.
For the past four months, demonstrators have blocked most of the access to the summit hoping to stop construction of TMT.
