Woman guilty of killing Kaulana Werner sentenced to 10 years in prison
Myisha Lee Armitage, the woman who was found guilty in the hit and run accident that killed Kaulana Werner, was sentenced Friday morning in court.
She was taken into custody to serve up to 10 years for the hit and run death of Werner.
In 2016, the crash happened on Farrington Highway in Nanakuli -- fronting the Werner's home. He died in his father's arms.
In August, Armitage said that she drank one tequila shot and one mai tai hours before the crash. The night of the crash, she told officers she "blacked out" and drank eight beers.
"Kaulana's Law" passed in wake of this, and allows judges to give harsher sentences to drivers who do not pull over and render aid after hitting someone.
