Property crime on O'ahu is on the rise and the number of cases being solved is dropping.

The FBI has released new data showing that the property crime rate in Honolulu is more than 2,900 cases per 100,000 people.

The national rate is about 2,200 cases per 100,000 people.

According to the Attorney General's office, the number of cases solved dropped from 13.8% in 2012 to 6.5% in 2017.

The Honolulu Police Department told our partners at Honolulu Civil Beat that the dip is due to changes in internal reporting requirements.
