Workers at Hale Nani vote to ratify contract
Almost 200 Local 5 members at Hale Nani Nursing and Rehabilitation Center voted to ratify a historic contract last week, with 99% yes votes.
According to the Local 5, Hale Nani is the largest skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in the state.
Roughly 200 workers walked out of Hale Nani for a 1-day strike on Friday, August 2, 2019. With the support of Local 5 members from the hotel properties and community allies, workers say they demanded that the company address workload and wage issues.
After another round of contract negotiations, Local 5 members secured key staffing improvements and the biggest wage increase in the facility's history according to the Local 5, with a total of 13.75% raise across all departments over the next four years.
