Hawaii's former two-division world champion BJ Penn is officially out of the UFC.

The news was first broke by Yahoo Sports' Kevin Iole Thursday afternoon. UFC president Dana White revealed to Yahoo Sports that he has officially cut ties with the Hilo-native.

This comes just weeks after White told ESPN that BJ Penn would not fight again for the UFC. "He won't fight again," White claimed, at the time. "That's it. It's a wrap."
That reaction from White reaction stemmed from video footage that surfaced showing Penn's involvement in a physical altercation outside a bar in Hawaii.

Penn, a former two-division world champion in the organization, has lost seven-consecutive fights dating back to 2010. Now 40-years old, BJ Penn holds a record of 16-14-2.
