The Youth Global Climate Strike is an international movement of youth who are mobilizing to get their local lawmakers to act more aggressively on the growing climate crisis.
The students recognize the worldwide impacts of the climate crisis -- and the concerns they have for their future.
The local goals of the Hawaii Youth Global Climate Strike:
1. A Meatless Mondays option for the school lunch programs.
2. The passage of Honolulu Bills 25 relating to sustainable infrastructure, and Bill 40 dealing with plastics.
3. Climate Crisis curriculum in local schools.
4. The students want the governor to Declare a Climate Emergency for the state of Hawaii.
OAHU: THERE WILL BE A MARCH AND RALLY FROM 'WASHINGTON PLACE' TO THE STATE CAPITOL THEN HONOLULU HALE.
MAUI: STUDENTS WILL STRIKE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII CAMPUS IN KAHULUI.
HAWAI'I ISLAND -- SIGN WAVING WILL BE SET UP ALONG BAYFRONT HIGHWAY NEAR THE KING KAMEHAMEHA STATUE DOWNTOWN.
KAUAI: STUDENTS WILL MEET AT KAUAI COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
