The Coast Guard is currently responding to boat on fire eight miles from Ko'olina. All seven people on board were rescued, and no injuries were reported.
The initial call came in at 4:29 p.m. from the fishing vessel Miss Emma. The Coast Guard sent out a small boat, two aircraft helicopters and another airplane to the scene.
"We are so pleased to have this crew safe in less than an hour after the initial call," said Lt. j.g. Seth Gross, command duty officer, Coast Guard Sector Honolulu command center. "The quick action of this crew, coupled with our training, made all the difference.”
The vessel is still on fire, and the Coast Guard says they are taking steps to determine the next best step.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
