Sunny Garcia spoken a 'few words,' family says as they celebrate small triumphs in recovery
After being taken to an Intensive Care Unit in Oregon, surfing world champ Sunny Garcia is said to make gains in his healing.
Since April 29th, when he was brought into the hospital in critical condition, he is 'fighting everyday to get better and stronger,' according to Garcia's family on his GoFundMe page.
His family says he has said a few words and is now in therapy daily for speech, physical and occupational assistance.
"It's going to be a marathon not a sprint but we work every day to make sure he is surrounded with love, laughter and ohana," the family wrote on the page on Monday.
Garcia's family says they are taking it one days at a time, and celebrating the small triumphs along the way.
Their goal was to raise $150,000, and they have reached almost $122,000 as of Monday afternoon.
