LAIE, Hawaii - Kamehameha Highway on Oahu's North Shore was closed for most of the day on Sunday, all because of a downed pole. The pole went down near the Polynesian Cultural Center around 3 a.m., and wires scattered across the road.

The city says all lanes are closed. Cars were lined up all day - some, with people sleeping inside. Only foot traffic was allowed through.

The Hawaiian Electric Company says the pole that went down overnight was not a HECO pole, but it did knock down one of its primary lines. Seven hundred people lost power during the night. Power was restored for most customers by 4 a.m. and fully resotred by 8 a.m.
