Friday, the court system indicated that a new trial would be granted after being presented with evidence of fraud in a motion saying Katherine Kealoha lied in her civil case, according to prosecuting attorneys.

Since the trial court has no jurisdiction, one of Florence Puana's attorneys, Gerald Kurashima, says the next step is to ask the appellate court to remand the case.

The motion was filed on August 23, the day before Puana's 100th birthday.

Back in June, Kealoha was convicted in the state's largest public corruption trial.
