Honolulu Police searching for suspect in apparent shooting in Wahiawa
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services treated a patient who suffered from multiple apparent gunshot wounds in the Wahiawa area.
According to Honolulu Police, a man had been shot at a bus stop on California Avenue shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Police say the suspect rode on a motorcycle and the shot the 53-year-old victim.
The suspect still on the loose, but the man who was shot was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.
Police believe this was targeted, and there isn’t any danger to the public.
KITV4 spoke with one neighbor who was home at the time and heard the whole thing happen. He says his family is shaken up.
"There was three very loud distinct gunshots -- pop pop pop -- one right after the other, and then a couple seconds after that we heard a dirt bike screaming down the road and he pulled into empty parking lot to do a u turn and come back up the road where the shooting occurred," said neighbor Rollin Olaso.
After he turned around that neighbor saw the suspect drive off that way.
Kamalani Academy on California Avenue in Wahiawa were placed on lockdown in response to the apparent shooting in the area.
