As part of National Child Passenger Safety Week from September 15-21, ending with National Seat Check Saturday where families can have their child’s car seat inspected at the Child Safety Fair at the Waipio Shopping Center on Saturday, September 21.

The event at 94-1040 Waipio Uka Street in Waipio-Gentry will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with certified inspectors on hand to make sure your child safety and booster seats are properly installed. No pre-registration is needed, with child car seat checks done on a first-come, first-served basis.

According to Safe Kids Worldwide, 3,070 children in 2017 died as occupants of motor vehicles during collisions. The correct installation and use of child safety seats decrease the risk of a fatal injury by 71 percent among infants, 54 percent among toddlers and 45 percent among children ages 4 to 8.
