WAIKIKI - On Saturday, Aloha Festivals, presented by Hawai'i Tourism, hosted "In The Southern Sun," a free concert sponsored by Hele Gas at Queen’s Surf Beach to celebrate the spirit of aloha in the community.

The inaugural event, produced in partnership with NMG Network’s 10th Anniversary, featured performances from local artists with a headline appearance to come by Grammy-nominated Common Kings.

The event was held from 5 to 10 p.m. at Queen’s Surf Beach and opened with cultural protocol and hula, and featured local artists Taimane Gardner, Na Hoa, Jasmin Nicole and Fia.

A performance by Grammy-nominated Common Kings topped off the evening. The band, last seen in Hawai‘i opening for Bruno Mars in November 2018, returned with their island-style hits and songs from their newest EP “One Day.”

Hawai'i-based brand FITTED developed the concept for In The Southern Sun in collaboration with Aloha Festivals and sold exclusive merchandise at the event. Queen Kapi'olani Hotel also held the official pre-party from 3 to 6 p.m.
