The White House fights the opioid crisis
The White House is issuing nearly two billion dollars to fight the opioid crisis. On Wednesday, officials announced that 932 million dollars will go to state and local governments to provide treatment, recovery, and prevention.
Another 900 million dollars will go to the CDC over a three year period. In the announcement, officials also said drug overdose deaths were down five percent from 2017 to 2018, the first drop in decades.
