Mayor Michael Victorino is traveling to Williamsport, Pa., to support the Central East Maui All-Stars in the national championship game Saturday against River Ridge, La. The game will be televised at 9:30 a.m. on ABC.
“I am excited. I am very excited,” said Mayor Victorino. “Our boys should be well rested and focused on their goal – a Little League World Series championship. God willing, and with the prayers of the people of the County of Maui and state of Hawaii, I’m confident that they will be successful.
“The people of Hawaii have fallen in love with the members of this phenomenal team, and I’m so proud of how they have demonstrated good sportsmanship in representing not only Maui County but the entire state of Hawaii. I will be bringing some fresh ti leaves with me for continued good fortune to our team.
“Again, I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to these young athletes, their parents, coaches and loyal supporters,” Mayor Victorino said.
Mayor Victorino has taken vacation time to travel Williamsport at his own expense.
