Famous drag queen debuts new movie in Hawaii
HONOLULU - An internationally famous drag queen who's an alumna of Ru Paul's Drag Race debuts her movie right here in Hawaii. "Shangela is Shook" had its world premiere Sunday night in the closing night of the Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival.
This is Shangela when not in drag, meeting the public and talking about the film, which follows Shangela on a comedy tour around the world. Why the choice to premiere the film in Honolulu?
"Honolulu is one of the most beautiful places in the world and I'm super thrilled. This festival's been around 30 years. You know, honey, when you turn dirty 30, you got to give it all! I figured if I was going to give it all, give it all to Honolulu first," says DJ "Shangela" Pierce.
What's next? Shangela wants to promote "Shangela is Shook" now that it's out in the public. Shangela also just finished co-writing a film which she hopes to get made.
