Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve reopens after wastewater leak prompts closure
Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve will reopen following a wastewater leak that prompted it's closure Thursday afternoon.
The Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation said the leak was believed to be originating from a clogged line in one of the bathrooms on the beach level.
Plumbers have since cleaned the area and fixed the leak.
"Out of an abundance of caution the beach was cleared of visitors so that crews could thoroughly assess the situation," the city wrote in a press release.
The Hanauma Bay Lecture Series was cancelled Thursday evening.
