Hawaii Pacific Health encouraging in-state careers for graduates
Since 2010, the rate of Hawaii residents who leave the state for college is up 10 percent. According to the College Board -- 51% of Hawaii high school students who took their SAT, PSAT or AP test -- went to college out of state.
Hawaii Pacific Health believes they're giving kids options not to leave -- by offering in-state schooling and career opportunities.
Graduates of their medical assistant program were honored today. This year's class had a 100% certification rate.
"A membership with HPH and also a job position within HPH. Aside from the job that they have to offer in the end, it helps me pay for school," said Waipahu High School class of 2019 graduate Deidrick Corpuz.
