UPDATE 12:19 p.m.

The brush fire in Waikele that started Monday morning has been fully contained at 11:52 a.m. according to the Honolulu Fire Department.

Fire officials say that the fire burned a total of 2.5 acres, no injuries were reported and no homes were threatened. 


Honolulu firefighters responded to a brush fire in Waikele Monday morning with four fire units and 11 firefighters.

Firefighters arrived at Lumiauau Street and Olua Place at 9:55 a.m. on Monday and the fire was contained by 10:18 a.m.

Personnel are still currently at the scene since the fire is not fully extinguished at this time.
