Cyntonia Brown, alleged sex trafficking victim who was convicted of murder, released from prison
A Tennessee woman serving life for killing a john when she was 16 years old has been released from prison.
Cyntoia Brown was granted clemency in January and will now be under parole supervision after spending 15 years behind bars.
According to Brown, she was assaulted and forced into prostitution by a pimp and ended up killing one of her clients in self-defense. Pressure to release her started building in 2017 after her case went viral on social media. Comedian Amy Schumer, reality star Kim Kardashian West and actress Ashley Judd were among those who called for Brown's clemency.
