Ige said with two approaching hurricanes, they are concerned with everyone's safety, and it may not be the last emergency proclamation the governor issues for Mauna Kea.
Jason Momoa took to social media to share his his feelings on the topic and wrote, "See u on the mauna. I love u Kia'i."
Momoa also shared a statement from Pu'uhonua o Pu'uhuluhulu that read, "It's a stall tactic. Governor Ige has been forced to lean on this tactic because he understands we are not stepping away from this struggle."
A TMT spokesperson says the two year extension was requested, "out of an abundance of caution because the project has been challenged on so many things. We continue to support the ongoing conversations around those issues that are larger than TMT and Maunakea. At the same time, it is important for us to get started as soon as possible."
