What started on Hawai'i Island and O'ahu, has now lead to demonstrations on other neighboring islands.

Kaua'i County Mayor Derek Kawakami and Police Chief Todd Raybuck invited those on the Garden Isle to exercise their rights to share their concerns over the project. Demonstrators gathered at the Lihue Civic Center at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

Kaua'i County added that it is, "committed to ensuring and protecting everyone's rights to peaceful assembly and ability to fairly share their opinions safely."

On Maui, dozens of demonstrators also gathered near Front Street in Lahaina Wednesday morning. They chanted, held flags and signs.

Participants told KITV4 that more demonstrations are planned on the Valley Isle in the coming days.
