Supporters of TMT made their voices heard as they gathered in Hilo Tuesday morning.

According to supporters, they're not discouraged by the demonstrations on the base of Maunakea and are excited about the telescope.

They believe it will bring jobs and education to the Big Island.

"You look at today's schools, a lot of the elementary schools are having STEM-related programs, not just high school and college opens the door for teachers that can reach our kids about technology," TMT supporter Gordon Takaki said.

Supporters of TMT construction tell KITV4 that they're confident that this year's demonstrations won't be a repeat of four years ago when construction came to a halt.
