One local non profit is encouraging our keiki to eat healthier.
Kupu is a Hawaii-based organization that provides young adults with funding for community projects, job training, and more.

The main focus is sustainability and conservation. KITV4 met with Caroline Tamman, an Iolani student who was recently awarded funding to introduce healthier meal choices during school lunches.

"Our main goal from the very beginning was to get more meatless days in the cafeteria, so throughout the year we've been meeting with sudexo which is our food provider...We decided that we're going to have it that way once a week next year," said Tamman.

With the funding, Caroline brought a chef on campus to teach students how to create healthy dishes. To test out what they learned, the Iolani students recreated their dishes during a cook-off competition.
