'Ko'olaupoko': Kailua Board meets to discuss breaking away from City and Co. of Honolulu
The Kailua Neighborhood Board is meeting Wednesday night to again discuss the idea of breaking away from the City and County of Honolulu.
The divided county is dubbed "Ko'olaupoko." It's an idea introduced by Matthew Darnell and Gary Weller -- members of the board's Government and Community Services Committee.
Darnell and Weller claim the city is not treating their neighborhood fairly. They are proposing a new county with its own city services like police, fire, and public transportation from Waimanalo to Kahaluu.
The group is meeting at the Kailua Recreation Center at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
