The identity of a man's body found in the mountains in the Kailua area has been released.

Now, CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) is asking for anyone that may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

The medical examiner's office says 38-year-old Benjamin Awong was found dead last week on a hiking trail, along the mountainside of Kalanianaole Highway and Aleka Place.

Officers say hunters found Awong 10 to 15 minutes into the trail, which was wide enough for a car to get through.

HPD ruled Awong's death a homicide, and the case is being investigated as murder.

"But now with his identity being put out there now we're actually hoping that someone might recognize him or her know something about him or acquaintances with him or maybe he knows something that he's involved in," Sergeant Chris Kim of Honolulu CrimeStoppers said.

If you have any information on the murder, you're asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or send an anonymous tip via the P3 Tips app.

A cash reward of up to $1,000 will paid for any information that leads to the arrest of a suspect.
