HONOLULU - Volunteers from the Hawaii Chapter of the American Public Works Association, in coordination with the city's Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM), stenciled "Look All Ways" signs at select crossing areas surrounding Thomas Square.
This is part of Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell's Pedestrian Safety Measures, Look All Ways Stenciling program. This project will also kick off National Public Works Week, May 19 through 25, which is used to inspire and educate the public of the importance of public works in their daily lives.
This "Look All Ways" graphic is meant to serve as a reminder for people to be mindful of traffic conditions before entering the crosswalk. Supplies for this project are being provided by the city's Department of Transportation Services (DTS), as part of its ongoing efforts to promote safety for all users of Honolulu's roads.
This stenciling project is administered under the Department of Facility Maintenance Malama O Ka 'Aina volunteer adoption program. To find out more about opportunities to volunteer, call 768-3600.
