All four counties are ramping up enforcement for the national safety campaign 'Put Your Phone Away or Get Ready to Pay.'

Citations can run up to nearly $350.

As KITV4 news reported last night, Maui Police issued 211 tickets so far this month, and Big Island police handed out 60.

Kaua'i police gave out nearly 30 tickets so far. 

Honolulu Police have not released their numbers yet.

According to national statistics, more than 3,100 people died in crashes involving distracted drivers. The message is to think twice, and be aware that your habit can even impact those closest to you.
