The University of Hawaii baseball team (11-14, 1-0 Big West) beat UC Irvine 10-2 Friday night at Les Murakami Stadium to open Big West Conference play.

The Rainbow Warriors got the scoring started in the second inning off a Tyler Murray two RBI double.  They entered the sixth inning leading 4-1 but left it leading 10-1.  Ethan Lopez did much of the damage.  He hit a 3 RBI triple to center.  Lopez finished 2-for-5 in the win with 4 RBI. 

On the pitcher's mound for Hawaii, Aaron Davenport got the win.  Davenport's record improves to 1-1 on the year.  He worked 5.1 innings, allowed one run on four hits, struck out four.

For the Anteaters, Andre Pallante, the projected first round draft pick allowed five Hawaii runs off five hits with no strikeouts.

The Rainbow Warriors now take a 1-0 series lead.  Game two against UCI is Saturday at Les Murakami Stadium at 6:35 p.m.
