(Hawaii Athletics) - The University of Hawai'i softball team (18-7, 0-0 Big West) shut out SIUE, 5-0 on the second day of the Bank of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Classic. Brittany Hitchcock earned the complete game win to improve to 7-4 while both Callee Heen and Sissy Pantastico blasted solo home runs to lead UH to the win on Thursday night at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
For Hitchcock, it was her fourth complete game shut out of the season and her 22nd of her career. She gave up just three hits with three walks and three strike outs and faced just 23 batters.
Heen launched a solo home run over the left-centerfield fence in the bottom of the fourth to give UH a 1-0 lead. It marked Heen's team-leading ninth home run of the season, and 32nd of her career.
Hawai'i added three runs in the bottom of the fifth to extend their lead to 4-0. Nicole Lopez drove in Bree Soma with an RBI-double to the right-centerfield gap. Later Brittnee Rossi scored from third on a passed ball and Lopez crossed the plate on an RBI-groundout to second by Heen.
In the sixth, Pantastico lifted her second home run of the season over the centerfield fence. It was her fifth home run of her career.
In the top of the seventh, the Cougars were trying to rally with runners at first and second and no outs. But Hitchcock and the UH defense got a flyout to center. The 'Bows ended the game with an unconventional double play. Soma snared a sinking line drive towards the leftfield line then doubled off the runner at second to Cheeks Ramos.

SIUE's Corrina Rivas (3-5) suffered the loss in a complete-game effort. She gave up five runs on five hits with three walks and a strikeout.
The Bank of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Classic continues on Thursday. Hawai'i will play the final game of the day against No. 4 Alabama.
