According to the FBI, the subject was arrested and held at the Federal Detention Center.

The suspect is a previous felon from Korea, and arrived in Honolulu on Monday.

Upon his arrival, he and was detained by customs due to his criminal record, the FBI believes. But he was only detained until customs was able to get him on a returning flight to Korea which was Thursday -- the flight that was later diverted.

The suspect had his initial appearance in court Thursday afternoon.
