The total number of sheltered homeless individuals on O'ahu has decreased by 440 or 19-percent over the past year.

According to 2019's O'ahu Point in Time Count, the total number of homeless individuals counted on O'ahu are 4,311.

The total number of sheltered homeless individuals counted on O'ahu is 1,910.

The total number of unsheltered homeless individuals counted on O'ahu was 2,401.

The total number of unsheltered homeless individuals on O'ahu increased by 256 or 12-percent over the past year. 

A spokesperson from Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell's office issued these statements in response: 

“The administration considers it good news that the Point in Time Count shows a decrease of four percent on the island of O?ahu. Overall, the results reinforce the need to continue the city’s program of Compassionate Disruption."

“Unsheltered homelessness grew, and this helps illustrate that those who accept help and go into shelter have a much better chance of getting into permanent supportive housing.”
