HSTA supporting a bill to prevent suicide in Hawaii's high school students
1 in 15 Hawaii high schools students have attempted suicide according to the HSTA who is supporting a bill to prevent suicide.
The bill would have public school employees trained on what to look out for and how to help kids contemplating killing themselves.
In 2017 Hawaii had the highest attempted suicide rate in the country among youth ages 10-24 according to the State Department of Health.
The bill passed its final senate committee Monday and is a full Senate vote away from crossing over to the House.
