Former OHA trustee Rowena Akana to pay fines for ethics violations
Former Office of Hawaiian Affairs trustee Rowena Akana must pay more $23,000 in fines.
The State's ethics commission found that she committed 47 ethics violations.
That includes accepting illegal gifts valued at over $21,000, failing to report gifts and using her annual allowance for personal use including paying for her cable TV service at home.
The commission also referred the case to the State attorney general.
Akana is expected to appeal the ruling.
