A house fire in Palolo left an elderly woman dead, and one person without a home.

13 units staffed with 53 personnel battled the blaze at the home on 9th Avenue Saturday morning just before 1:30 a.m.
Paramedics found an 86-year-old woman unconscious in a backroom.
The Fire was brought under control just after 2 a.m. and extinguished about 45 minutes later.

The Fire Department says while they were able to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby homes, you should do your part, and check to make sure your home's smoke alarms are working.
