New Polynesian Bowl helmet donning historic barkcloth design
It features a natural balance from mauka to makai embodied in the designs -- using red for the land and blue for the sea.
HONOLULU - Riddell and the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame unveiled the upcoming 2019 Polynesian Bowl Riddell Speedflex helmet design.
This year's design is inspired by kapa, or tapa -- a barkcloth utilized in the past by families throughout Polynesia. It features a natural balance from mauka to makai embodied in the designs -- using red for the land and blue for the sea.
One hundred players will participate in the annual game, including several of the top ranked high school football players in the country.
Each Polynesian Bowl participant will have the opportunity to wear the custom helmets in practices and at the game.
The 2019 Polynesian Bowl takes place on Saturday, January 19th at Aloha Stadium.
