Nearly 2,000 businesses affected by Maui's new foam container ban
Businesses now have to get a special sign allowing them to sell the last of their stock.
HONOLULU - On Maui, businesses are asking the county to delay its enforcement of the ban on foam containers.
Maui News reports that the ban also includes foam containers for noodles.
The ban went into effect on December 31st, but it wasn't until two weeks before, that the law was clarified to include noodle cups.
The county estimates about 2,000 businesses are affected by the new law. Those businesses have to get a special sign allowing them to sell the last of their stock.
