HONOLULU - Friday marks the 77th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

It was a day that former U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt said those famous words, "December 7, 1941 -- a date which will live in infamy. The United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan."

More than two-thousand Americans died from the bombings, and many U.S. airplanes and battleships were destroyed.

Just one day later, the U.S. declared war against Japan, thrusting the nation into World War II.
