Elected officials from Hawaii, California, and Alaska gathered at the White House for a 'State Leadership Day' event
Elected officials from Hawaii, California and Alaska gathered Tuesday at the White House for a State Leadership Day event.
President Donald Trump invited the delegates to discuss shared federal and local policies.
Attendees from Hawaii included Maui County Council Member Elle Cochran, Maui Police Chief Tivoli Faaumu, and State Representative Bob McDermott.
During his speech, President Trump blamed Democrats for the country's immigration problems.
"They're the dumbest laws anywhere in the world, dumbest immigration laws anywhere in the world. There's nothing, catch and release, you know what catch and release is? You catch a criminal, you take his name and you release him," President Trump said.
The President also said he's committed to a future of safety, opportunity and prosperity for all Americans.
