HONOLULU - UPDATE 3/11/2019:

Former Honolulu Police Lieutenant 54-year-old Eric Yiu pleaded guilty Monday to tax violations as part of a plea deal with the State.

Yiu admitted to filing fraudulent tax returns in 2013, 2014, and 2016. As part of the plea deal, Yiu will not serve any jail time.

According to Honolulu Police officials, Yiu retired from HPD in November after 29 years of service.

Eric Yiu, a Honolulu Police Lieutenant, was charged with tax violations, and plead not guilty in court Monday morning.

Last week, Yiu was arrested, but he posted his $11,000 bail shortly after.

The State Taxation Department says he filed fraudulent tax returns from 2011 to 2016.

If convicted, Yiu could face up to three years in prison.
