(Hawaii Athletics) - The University of Hawai'i baseball team and head coach Mike Trapasso announced the 2019 schedule on Tuesday afternoon.
The 50-game schedule features 32 games inside the friendly confines of Les Murakami Stadium, along with five tough non-conference opponents visiting the island O'ahu, and one trip into Big Ten country.
"It is a point of pride for us to challenge ourselves in the non-conference segment of the schedule every year," said Trapasso. "We want to play strong teams and go into hostile environments. It prepares us for the rigors of the Big West Conference, which looks to be as deep as ever this season," said Trapasso.
The season's first pitch will be against the University of Portland with a four-game series beginning on February 15th. The series will kick-start a homestand of 20 consecutive games to start the season
The following weekend will bring in The University of Iowa from February 22nd to the 24th for a four-game series. The first two series against the Pilots and Hawkeyes will feature the only scheduled doubleheaders of the season as games two and three of both series will be played on Saturdays.
Longwood University will come to Hawaii March 1-5 for a 4 game series, but with Monday, March 4 off. This will mark the first-ever series between UH and Longwood.
March 7-10 will see the Oregon Ducks return to the schedule for this first time since 2015. From 2010 to 2015 the Rainbow Warriors and the Ducks squared off in six different four-game series.
Rounding out the first 20-games at home will be CSU Bakersfield beginning on March 14 with a four-game series, this will be the Runners first ever trip to Honolulu. It will be an early look at a future Big West Conference foe, as CSUB will enter the conference in 2021.
UH will then fly to the Eastern Time zone to visit Ohio State University from March 21st to March 24th for a four-game set. The Buckeyes are coming off an appearance in the NCAA tournament, a feat they've been able to accomplish two of the last three seasons. This will mark the first meeting between the two programs in over 60 years.
The trip east will put an end to the 'Bows series schedule against non-conference opponents. UH will make stops at San Diego and Cal Baptist for midweek matchups on April 24th and the 30th.
The test of the non-conference will come into play right after the trip to Ohio State with UC Irvine and UC Davis starting off the conference schedule in Honolulu.  The Anteaters will begin a three-game series on March 29th followed by the Aggies on April 5th.
UH will then make a stop at UC Riverside for its second road trip of the season, beginning on April 12th, before returning home to host the defending conference champs, Cal State Fullerton. The three-game series will go from April 18th to the 20th.
From April 24th to May 5th UH will embark on its longest road trip of the season with eight games in 12 days, making stops at San Diego, CSUN, Cal Baptist, and Cal Poly.
The last home series of the season will fall from May 17th to the 19th against UC Santa Barbara. Senior day is scheduled for Sunday the 19th with first pitch at 1:05 p.m. HT.
