HONOLULU (KITV) - Hurricane Olivia is just one of three named storms active in the Pacific right now.

In the Western Pacific, Typhoon Mangkhut is currently passing over Rota in the Mariana Islands with winds gusts estimated at 100 miles an hour.

The American Red Cross has people on the ground there and here in Hawaii to help respond to any damages.

"We've been preparing, now calling out volunteers locally as well as national people from the mainland are coming. They've already come to Guam and Saipan pre-landfall and they're coming in today actually for Olivia. They're sending in satellite equipment in case we lose communication abilities," Coralie Chun Matayoshi, CEO of American Red Cross Hawaii.

Preparations for Hurricane Lane also helped the Red Cross prepare for Hurricane Olivia. They now have several clean up kits, cots, and blankets on hand that weren't used during that storm.
